Very informative video 🙂
However there will be a problem with the first trick, if the computer isn’t setup to boot from a device other than the hard disk, and the BIOS is password-protected.
I have a little problem and would like some advice on how to handle it…my university’s IT department has draconian measures to protect their servers (mostly so that their personnel don’t have to work too hard). My home computer, with which I login to my university email account, recently was afflicted with a backdoor trojan. I took care of this using Haxfix and a couple of other things…but now I find my home machine not being able to login to the university server. They have a policy for _university_ machines of repo-ing our machines and hard formatting them if any virus is detected and will not allow network access without this action. But I’ll be damned if they will be allowed to take and hard-format my home machine because they sniffed out a trojan once that does not exist anymore.
Is there any way for me to get around this short of dealing with IT? I tried logging in using Anonymizer but was unable to. I can login using someone else’s laptop through my home wifi network, though, even without Anonymizer.
A friend said that my friendly university IT dept has my home machine’s MAC address on a list and the only thing he could think of is pulling the network card and installing a new one.
