Moved my website to another host.

I’ve been with my current webhost 123reg for more than 5 years (I was with supanames) and it hasn’t been to bad. I recently re did my site with WordPress and a few plugins and noticed that the performance was awful. Searching the web i found i wasnt the only one, i suspect they squeeze as many  accounts on to one server. I decided to move to another UK webhost (vidahost).  Really good reviews and more of less the same price, so far it’s been really fast and responsive.

Comparison of the same wordpress install and mysql db loaded on the two webhost.

OLD Webhost 123reg – 8.22 sec

New Webhost Vidahost – 2.49 sec

Now you may think it’s only a few seconds but sometimes the site wouldn’t respond at all.

UPDATE:
I have had to use support a few times and they have responded within 30 min. Well impressed.

I’m back

I’m back.

It’s been a while since I posted on this blog. You maybe wondering why all the non loading photos? Well this blog used to be linked to posterous and that’s where all the pics were stored. Posterous was taken over by twitter and subsequently closed down.

Anyway new start.

Finally got 4g and wow is it quick. Not sure how long it will last as more and more users will have their 4g activated.

Blue Fury USB Miner

As you can see they’re happily hashing away. They were really easy to set you with the provided drivers. Only issues was the size as i was to lazy to buy an usb hub, so ive got them running on the back of the computer.

so far it has been 48 hours and the hash rate is stable. Top quality product.

Inputs.io site owner give interview to ABC News Radio

The owner of inputs.io (Tradefortress) has given an interview to ABC NEWS radio in Australia. He states that he will not report it to the police even though 4100 BTC have gone missing. Meanwhile some user have confirmed on the bicointalk forum that they are getting their BTC returned.

Tradefortress is little over 18 year of age. Would anyone in real life have trusted a 19 year old with £2000 of their cash? Personally i can only see this type of crime increasing as Bitcoins become increasingly main stream.

Radio clip below.

Inputs.io gets hacked.

Inputs.io has managed to lose 4100 BTC from a server side hack. Inputs.io was a leading Bitcoin web wallet trusted by many user. A few days prior to the announcement user were reporting small scale theft of btc from their web wallets which were tracked down to an API flaw.

Perhaps It’s time BTC web wallets started insuring for our loses at a cost us. if i had XXXX BTC i’d be happy to pay for some peace of mind or maybe even better use an offline wallet.

Two hacks totalling about 4100 BTC have left Inputs.io unable to pay all user balances. The attacker compromised the hosting account through compromising email accounts (some very old, and without phone numbers attached, so it was easy to reset). The attacker was able to bypass 2FA due to a flaw on the server host side.

Database access was also obtained, however passwords are securely stored and are hashed on the client. Bitcoin backend code were transferred to 10;[email protected]:[email protected] (most likely another compromised server).

What about my coins there? If you stored more than 1 BTC, send an email to [email protected] with a Bitcoin address (preferably, an offline, open source light/SPV wallet like Multibit orElectrum). Use the same email you’re using on Inputs. Please don’t store Bitcoins on an internet connected device, regardless of it is your own or a service’s.

I know this doesn’t mean much, but I’m sorry, and saying that I’m very sad that this happened is an understatement.
